As lights twinkle from a decked out Christmas tree, I sit with laptop in lap, London next to me, and a full glass of eggnog. It's Christmas time once again and before I throw another log on the fire, I'm trying to think of the one word that sums up this year for me.
At this festive time of year it's easy to get sidetracked into the commercial side of the holidays. Don't get me wrong I like gifts as much as the next guy, but Christmas means more to me then presents! It means family... friends... togetherness... and love. Those are all great words, but none of them sum up completely what this past year has been for me, or where I'm at right now having just experienced 2011.
This past year has been a great one filled with trips to far off places such as Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and France. Some amazing parties with new and old friends, wonderful theatrical productions, a little romance, the addition of a guinea pig named Cupid. There were two grand wedding celebrations, a lot of time spent in the great outdoors, and lets not forget I turned 30 this year! As 2012 fast approaches this past year will not be forgotten. In the coming year I look forward to visiting China with friends and the many adventures we'll have touring the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace to name just a few. Then there is the planning of my 2013 trip to Argentina and Antarctica. I also hope to make monumental strides within my own graphic design business which has just taken on our biggest client yet. I will also uphold the title of "Uncle Drew" as I continue to strengthen the bond I have with my niece and nephew. Between traveling and working there is socializing, and though I tend to work hard I also play hard. That's not going to change in the coming year.
Now, after reflecting back on 2011 and looking forward to 2012 in determining where I am at right now, as I sip the last of my eggnog with London now snoozing at my feet I realize that really what I feel is simply this: PEACE.
May your world be filled with peace this holiday season and throughout the new year!

Sounds like a wonderful year! That picture is super cute... looks like a celebrity and their pets magazine cover with both animals! Hope China is great!
