Aside from 69, I’m not really big on numbers.Nonetheless, many of my close friends pay attention to the number 11 in a special way. For believers, 11 is often associated with synchronicities, spirituality or just plain old good luck. And since today is 11/11/11, the date holds a real significance to many. In fact, one of my friends is getting married this afternoon. Congratulations, Davey!
Is 11/11/11 just another funky date? Maybe.
Beyond all the mystical numerology of the date (which, to be honest, doesn’t really resonate with me), today’s date can be a reminder. As the number 1 signifies newness and beginnings, 11/11/11 can be a reminder that each day is a fresh start and a blank canvas. We need not let our yesterdays dictate the trajectory of today; we always have the opportunity to start anew and follow the calling of our heart’s song. For me, that’s what today’s date means.

At any rate, hopefully 11/11/11 doesn’t signify the start of the Apocalypse. Next week’s blog post is too good to die without sharing. And in the meantime, I’m looking forward to 6/9/69 – and already thinking of some fun ways to celebrate.
